MANILA, PHILIPPINES — AboitizPower’s private limited partnerships, GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC) and GNPower Dinginin (GNPD), were recognized for their significant contributions to education and workforce development during the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) 2026 Recognition Awards for Collaborative Engagement (RACE), held on July 24 in Manila.

Organized by PUP’s Alumni Relations and Career Development Office, the RACE Awards recognize industry partners that play an active role in advancing student learning, career readiness, and institutional development through meaningful collaboration with the university.

Representing AboitizPower, GMEC-GNPD Vice President for Corporate Services Andrea Madrid and Reputation and Stakeholder Management Manager Joseph Paolo Mendoza accepted the award. The company was cited for its sustained support of PUP’s Sintang Paaralan through scholarship programs, on-the-job training (OJT) opportunities, employment pathways, and curriculum enhancement initiatives.

A key driver of this recognition is the long-standing partnership between AboitizPower and PUP Mariveles. Through GMEC and GNPD, the collaboration provides scholarships and educational opportunities that help equip students in Bataan with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the energy industry and beyond.

Carrying the theme, “Fostering a Culture of Co-Creation between the Academe, Industry, and Government Sector,” the event underscored the value of cross-sector collaboration in shaping future-ready graduates. Guest speaker Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso emphasized that stronger partnerships among educational institutions, businesses, and government are essential to empowering the youth and driving national development.

Also recognized during the ceremony were Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. and AP Renewables, Inc., which both received awards under the Scholarship and Financial Assistance category.

The recognition of multiple Aboitiz Group organizations highlights the company’s continuing commitment to strengthening education, expanding opportunities for Filipino students, and helping bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice.
